Forensic Research Group Leader
About The Position
Cellebrite is looking for a highly experienced R&D Group Leader, to lead the forensic research group at Cellebrite Labs. This role includes direct management of 6 research & development teams - in total of more than 40 engineers (researchers, developers and QA).
This group owns the full research cycle for mobile apps, cloud services and computer forensics, from reverse engineering iOS or Android applications or web communication protocols, up to delivery of production code to perform decryption and performance-aware parsing.
Among the team responsibilities are analysis of binary formats, retrieving artifacts from applications and operating systems, rebuilding authentication and data acquisition from cloud services. The group is building and maintaining the industry’s leading decoding engine and SDK which serves Cellebrite’s products.
The group’s mission and vision is two-fold: on the one end, expanding our explorative research into new mechanisms and new artifacts with novel techniques; on the other end – full production quality cycles supporting hundreds of existing (regularly updating) apps. Leader must be highly technical, multidisciplinary in nature and capacity, passionate about research and about leading people.
The successful candidate, reporting to VP Labs, will be responsible to:
1. Deeply research and reverse engineering of binary formats, from lower-level storage through file systems to unique schemes of sqlite databases
2. Promote and champion innovation and new solutions at scale
3. Reinforce and build team skills, infrastructure, and toolset (IDA/Frida/Fiddler/etc)
4. Oversee the release of the new decoding engine and SDK architecture
5. Own and lead release cadence of production code (effort estimations, dev/qa cycles, support)
6. Attract and retain talent, develop and engage all employees in the group and create culture of curiosity and excellence.
Requirements
· At least 5 years’ experience in managing R&D groups of 30+ people; teams and team leaders.
· Experience in reverse engineering, decoding or software vulnerability research.
· Very strong technical skills, design and systems engineering.
· Familiarity and experience in the forensic or intelligence fields or data analysis – significant advantage.
· Deep understanding of product development life cycle – Planning, EE, design development, CI/CD, support.
· Experience in various development methodologies (Agile, Scrum)
· Academic education in the fields of computer science or similar.
Personal Characteristics
· Strong written and verbal communication skills.
· English – full professional proficiency (spoken and written), Hebrew. Other languages – an advantage.
· Ability to work and deliver in a dynamic and challenging environment.
